October 21:  Committee met at Tupelo Honey's.  Discussions centered around the comments obtained at the Table during the Elks Fall Festival.  It appears Planning and Zoning continues to come up as an issue and we must find ways to inform the potential members of the village that the committee plans for Planning and Zoning to remain at the hands of the County.   We also discussed the upcoming "Informal Meeting" where individuals can come and go to ask questions regarding the potential village, as well as sign the petition.   We will have Posters regarding current Sales Taxes in the various areas, as well as maps of the "Proposed Highway 5" to BYPASS Greenview as it is today.

October 9-11:  Table at Fall Festival hosted by the Greenview Elks.

October 7, 2009:  Meeting was held to discuss the progress with obtaining signatures.  A concerned potential member of the Village came to the meeting to ask some questions and voice some concerns regarding the village, but has general support for the Village.   Volunteers will have a table at the Greenview Elks Fall Festival the weekend of October 9-11 to answer questions and obtain signatures.  The volunteers are setting up an informal question and answer meeting for November 11, 2009 at the Bank of Versailles.  The next meeting for the volunteers is October 21, 2009 at 8:00 a.m..

September 23, 2009:  Meeting was held to discuss the progress with obtaining signatures on the petition.   Discussions also surrounded other methods we could utilize to provide information and obtain signatures.  It was decided to contact the Greenview Elks to see if we could have an information booth at the October fest being sponsored by the Elks.   We will also work with KRMS and Lake Sun Leader to provide additional information regarding the village.

August 26, 2009:  Names were divided among the committee members to start obtaining the signatures.

August 12, 2009:
Volunteers met at Tupelo Honey's.  Several new faces were in attendance, so we spent time recapping some of the previous events.  The attorney is working on the Petition and we hope to have it finalized within the next week.  Discussion surrounded the different methods that could be utilized to obtain the signatures, some suggestions:  Tables at Woods Supermarket, Bar-b-cue in Greenview, Door to Door, and local businesses.  Suggestion was made to post the petition on the Website and allow them to print the petition, sign it, then either mail it in or drop it off at one of the business establishments.  Work will continue in this effort.

July 29, 2009:
Volunteers met at Bank of Versailles.  Short meeting,  the Camden County Clerk has requested clarification on the map for the Village.   Map needs to be finalized to prepare the petition.

June 9, 2009:   Diana Sutherland, Tiffanie Hicks, Scottie Martin and Matt Marschke met with Camden County Commissioners, Tom Gumm and Beverly Thomas to gain an understanding of the steps needed to start the petition process now that the boundaries have been defined for the proposed village.  Discussions were good and direction was provided to determine how services for Road, Ambulance, Fire and Police protection.  The County will retain the CART funds to maintain the current roadways, but an agreement between the County and the Village will have to be completed for the road maintenance to continue.  The meeting was very positive.

June 3, 2009:   Volunteers met at Bank of Versailles at 9:00 a.m. and discussed the final draft of the boundaries for the proposed village.  The group made their final recommendation to concentrate on the business corridor, especially the Highway 5 and Highway 7 interchange.  A decision was made to include EE, since it is a state maintained highway and will provide for future growth.  A group volunteered to meet with the Camden County commissioners to begin building a relationship with the commissioners and an understanding of the steps to move forward in formulating the village.

May 28, 2009:   Volunteers meeting at Bank of Versailles at 6:00 p.m . with Joseph G. Lauber of Williams & Campo, P.C. out of Lee's Summit.  Mr. Lauber was very helpful in providing guidelines and suggestions regarding the steps and process in formulating the village.   The meeting was very informative.

May 13, 2009:   Volunteers meeting at Bank of Versailles at 9:15 a.m.  An attorney out of Lee's Summit has experience with establishing Villages and he has agreed t come to Greenview to provide some insight into the steps that need to be completed to move the process forward in the correct manner.   The committee continued to discuss the boundaries of the village.  Everyone is in agreement that we should refine the area to concentrate on the "Business Corridor of Highway 5 and part of Highway 7".  This decision is based on the input from area citizens and their support of establishing a village in the Business District.  The number one focus continues to be the safety and future of Highway 5 through the area.

April 29, 2009:  Volunteers meeting at Bank of Versailles at 9:15 a.m . discussed at length the population areas of Greenview to determine potential boundary areas for the village.   Committee members continue to work with the Camden County Clerks office to determine the number of registered voters within the proposed areas the group continues to review.  The committee continues to be concerned about making sure the legal steps are covered properly as the process moves forward.   It was agreed we should contact an attorney who has been through the process to make sure the steps are understood as the process moves forward.

April 15, 2009:  Volunteers met at Bank of Versailles at 9:00 a.m . to discuss the April 8 meeting and questionnaire response.  Based on the survey response and general discussions it was decided to look at the different areas and determine the potential populations within the area.   The committee will be looking at the boundary recommendations, meetings with attorney's to determine the proper steps in continuing to move forward, as well as reviewing the different taxation amounts around the Lake of the Ozarks.

April 8, 2009:  Greenview Precinct Registered Voters were all invited.  Presentations were made regarding what it takes to be a village, some of the services a village could offer if incorporated, and potential boundaries of the village.  A question and answered period was held at the end of the meeting for attendees to address the group of volunteers.  After the question and answered period was over a questionnaire was handed out asking the following:

March 27, 2009:  Postcards were mailed to households of all the Greenview Precinct Registered Voters for the upcoming Informational Meeting on April 8, 2009 to discuss the "Village of Greenview".  The list of registered voters were obtained from the Camden County Clerks office.

March 9, 2009:  The meeting was held in the Community Room at the Bank of Versailles.  During this meeting the group reported their findings in regard to the State Statues in forming a village.

The following steps were identified:

  1.     Defining the Boundaries
  2.     Prepare Petition based on these boundaries
  3.     Signatures of 2/3 of the registered Voters within the Boundaries
  4.     Petition Delivered to Camden County Commissioners
  5.     Camden County Commissioners Declare the Village
  6.     5 Trustees (must be registered voters within the New Village) appointed to Represent the Village in the running of the business within the Village
  7.     Village of Greenview would be Incorporated

During this meeting it was decided the best way to determine if efforts should be continued to move the process forward would be to get voters of the "Greenview Precinct" to provide input.  It was decided all Registered Voters would be invited to the next meeting to discuss their interest and the potential boundaries.

March 2, 2009:  The meeting was held at Tupelo Honey's to see if there was desire among the group to pursue the options of what it would take to become a organized Village.    At this meeting, it was decided there was enough interest to begin the investigation.  A request was made for volunteers to begin investigating the option.  The task was started.
